NesSmith Receives E. Wilson Green Award
Village resident Dianne NesSmith received the E. Wilson Green Award during the recent Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet. NesSmith leads the area’s Red Cross First Responders and has worked at a leadership level with the Red Cross for 15 years. She was a volunteer participant in Cherokee Village’s 60th anniversary celebration last year and has been a volunteer at the Mission of Hope for many years. NesSmith is also very active in the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church and coordinates fundraising for the Red Cross, including the blood bank, mystery dinners and the organization's lock up event.
The E. Wilson Green Award is presented each year to an individual in the Spring River area who embodies the spirit of volunteerism and community service exhibited by E. Wilson Green. Mr. Green was a long-time Village resident who selflessly gave thousands of volunteer hours for the betterment of the community. The award was established in 1990 and its namesake, Mr. Green, was the first recipient.
